Ms. Malone Barber's Teacher of the Year
We sat down to get to know our 2019-2020 Barber Teacher of the Year. Ms. Gloria Malone was our deserving winner. She was nominated by her teacher peers from Barber CLC and was voted as the Teacher of the Year as one of the 8 candidates nominated. Congratulations!
Where did you go to college? I graduated from Kent State with my Bachelor degree and The University of Akron for my Master degree.
What do you listen to on your way to work? 93.1 fm WZAK out of Cleveland on the radio.
How long have you been teaching? Almost 20 years
What is the one gift from a student that makes you smile regularly? Any drawing or gift that is a frog or a disney villain.
What is your favorite game to play at recess? Foursquare and I just taught the kids how to play Spit (card game), so that is the game I'm enjoying playing right now since we have been inside for recess.
What is one thing you remember about your favorite teacher? I remember my favorite teacher always told crazy stories and made me laugh.
How do you measure your success? I measure success by the fact that I still have students that I had a long time ago contact me and tell me how much they enjoyed being in my class, and they still remember all the frogs I had and can quote things that I use to say to the class.
