Students at Barber CLC are participating in Conceptual Change Day Thursdays. These activities are connected in the first semester to interpersonal and intrapersonal skills that the students are learning. These skills are learned during the time the students would typically have specials, but one day a week with no special has teachers guiding students through learning these skills.
Ms. Marksberry & Ms. Eggeman's 4th grade classes participated in activities to learn to work together and be kind to one another.
We are learning to work together as a team in order to accomplish a goal. These skills are important in life as frequently we are working in team settings. In this case team members could only use the string attached to a rubber band to work together as a team to pick up the cups and create a tower. We then had a discussion where we identified the characteristics of a good team member. We also discussed areas we could improve on.
In the Toothpaste Challenge the 4th grade classes worked together to empty a tube of toothpaste. Students were then challenged to put all of the toothpaste back into the tube using a toothpick and small spoon. This activity was used to demonstrate that once your words leave your mouth they are impossible to take back.
